The studio
A small studio, a long view
We are a studio of architects and interior designers who would rather do a few buildings properly than a great many quickly.
Datum was founded in Amman in 2009 and has since worked on roughly forty projects across nine countries, from a single house on a ridge to a public gallery and a hotel courtyard. We keep the team small on purpose, so the people who win the work are the people who draw it.
Our buildings are meant to be lived in for a long time. We design for the climate they sit in, the way light moves through them across a day, and how they will look once the newness has worn off and the trees have grown in.

What we do
Four ways we work

Architecture
New buildings from the first sketch to the last site visit. Houses, cultural and civic work, hospitality, and workplaces, led by the people who design them.

Interiors
Interiors as architecture, not decoration. We design the walls, the light, the joinery, and the few good pieces that go in, so the inside and the outside are one thought.

Masterplanning
The shape of a place before the buildings arrive. Streets, courtyards, and the spaces between, planned so they still work when the plan is only half built.

Heritage and reuse
Old buildings given another life. We repair carefully, add lightly, and keep what makes a place worth keeping, from a single riad to a row of warehouses.
We design for how a place will feel in twenty years, not how it photographs on the day it opens.
